I began my Car modification crusade in early 1999. The car was bought off my brother who purchased it new in 1995. Up till the day i got it , it remained bone stock. I focused primarily on addressing some flaws like a dent in the bumper and painting the sideskirt under flaps to match the rest of the car. And later progressed into adding more power, and more aerodynamics. What inspired me to design the car the way it appears now lies heavily in European and Japanese design philosophy's. European design focuses on simple functional lines that when modified accentuate the stock lines of the car. Japanese designs tend to also focus on simpliticy but in a way exagerate and add in the passion where as European simplicity may seem boring yet functional. Combined with these two ideas, i worked on adding function while maintaining something that inspired passion when you looked at it. In other words i added soul to an otherwise boring functional looking vehicle. Fender flares were molded in which stuck w/ the stock lines of the vehicle and added more wheel clearance and at the same time changed the aggressiveness of the car. The diffuser hood and spoiler wer added contrast as well as improved on aerodynamics of the vehicle. SinfulXchanges: I went through endless combinations of sideskirts, bumpers , spoilers, and have come close to what i want the vehicle to look like but perfection is an ideal never a reality. And that sums up the aesthetic inspiration that has resulted in my Toyota Supra .
As for performance, most Supra owners are focused on power, power, and power. While horsepower is something we can all appretiate, i believe the handling characteristics of the supra are often overlooked. I focused on refining what Toyota had created, working on the weakest link of the car, the weight. I currently am at around 3280lbs w/ a full tank, which is not bad for a street car. There's more to go and i hope to be at 3180 by the time i'm done w/ the car, which would put it very aggressively in its weight class to modern cars today like the c6zo6. In parallel with weight lies response. A car that can communicate and be an extension of your hands feet and eyes is a car that well consistantly perform well. With this in mind i targeted the suspension w/ proper Monotube coilovers and sticky sticky tires from Yokohama Advan. I remain on stock turbos right now and will eventually go w/ a small single possibly a gt35r or a t61. This coupled w/ the supra power plant would yield great response and great power , more than enough for the tires to be overwhelmed. In the future, a trd diff and a racelogic traction control would yield great resutls in road racing the car.
